Two Nepalese Kidnapped In Kabul
KABUL, 12 February 2006 -- Two Nepalese nationals have been kidnapped in the Afghan capital, Kabul.

An Afghan Interior Ministry spokesman told Radio Free Afghanistan that the two men, who worked for a private security company, were seized by unidentified men in Kabul on Saturday. The spokesman, Yousef Stanizai, said Afghan police are now searching for the two and
their captors. Stanizai said "Two Nepalese citizens have been abducted by unidentified assailants in Kabul. They worked for a private security company. Police are now searching for the two and their abductors."

An Italian woman aid worker was snatched from her car in the same part of Kabul last year, raising fears that militants were copying the tactics of Iraqi insurgents.

Her kidnappers turned out to be criminals and the woman was released unharmed after about three weeks.
Kidnapping and other crime has increased since U.S. and Afghan opposition forces overthrew the Taliban in 2001.
