Karzai And Musharraf Discuss Strengthening Common Border
15 February 2006 -- Afghan President Hamid Karzai held talks with Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf in Islamabad today on strengthening security cooperation across their common border.
Afghan officials say Karzai is worried by a recent surge in suicide attacks, many believed to be plotted across the border in Pakistan by the remnants of Taliban regime. Pakistan denies any involvement. Pakistani officials say Musharraf told the Afghan leader that greater cooperation would help the two countries effectively combat the threat of terrorism. The two also agreed to strengthen bilateral economic ties.
