US Commander Abizaid To Meet Pakistani Leaders
ISLAMABAD, February 15, 2007 -- The head of the U.S. Army's Central Command, Lieutenant General John Abizaid, is set to meet with top Pakistani commanders in Rawalpindi today.
Abizaid will also meet with Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf during his visit. Pakistan has been under growing pressure to take stronger measures against militants operating in its border region with Afghanistan. But Afghan President Hamid Karzai, who
had previously criticized Pakistan's role in security efforts, said Wednesday (February 14) that he is satisfied with Pakistan's cooperation.
