Ex-CIA Contractor Gets 8 Years For Afghan Prisoner Abuse
RALEIGH, U.S.A.; February 14, 2007 -- An American man has been sentenced to more than eight years in U.S. prison for assaulting a prisoner in Afghanistan, who later died.

David Passaro, a former contract employee for the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), was convicted by a court in the state of North Carolina last August of beating Abdul Wali with a flashlight and kicking him in the groin during a two-day interrogation at a U.S. military base in Afghanistan in July, 2003. He is believed to be the first U.S. civilian convicted
for detainee abuse during the wars in Afghanistan or Iraq.
