Pakistan Ready To Fence Afghan Border
BERLIN, February 8, 2007 -- Pakistan says it intends to fence sections of its border with Afghanistan but has shelved plans to lay mines along the frontier.
Pakistani Foreign Minister Khurshid Kasuri said in Berlin today after talks with German Foreign Minister Frank- Walter Steinmeier that a fence would stop militants crossing the mountainous 2,500-kilometre border. But he said Pakistan would like assistance from the European Union to realize the project.
