Tribesmen, Uzbek Militants Clash In Pakistan
WANA, Pakistan; March 20, 2007 -- Pakistani Officials say foreign Al-Qaeda-linked militants, most of them Uzbeks, have clashed with tribesmen in Pakistan near the border with Afghanistan.

A military spokesperson (Major-General Waheed Arshad) said up to 30 people were killed in the fighting, which started Monday (March 19) and continued today near Wana in the tribal region of South Waziristan. Afghan and U.S. officials have accused Islamabad of failing to do enough to crack down on Islamic militants in Pakistan's semi-autonomous tribal regions.
