NATO Says More Suicide Bombings Expected In Afghanistan
KABUL, February 28, 2007 -- A NATO spokesman says many more suicide bombings are expected in Afghanistan in the coming months, and warned that "suicide bomber cells" are operating in the country.
Colonel Tom Collins said there is intelligence
suggesting a threat of suicide bombings in the Bagram area before Tuesday's (February 27) attack on a U.S. base that killed more than 20 people during a visit by U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney. Purported Taliban members claimed responsibility for the bombing.
