Afghan Rights Group, UNICEF Condemn Use Of A Minor In Taliban Execution
GENEVA, April 24, 2007 (RFE/RL) -- The Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) has expressed serious concern over a video showing a young boy beheading an adult.

The video of the Taliban execution has been circulating in Pakistan.

AIHRC member Hengameh Anwari told RFE/RL today that the use of children in conflicts has negative effect on their mental health. She said such practice contradicts all human laws: "Using children in any type of conflict or war conditions is against all Islamic and international laws and regulations."

In a statement issued Monday (April 23), The United Nations' Children Fund (UNICEF) condemned the use of the minor in the video as a "criminal act."

It said it was a "terrible example" of how children can be used by adults to commit "heinous crimes" in times of conflict.
