Afghan Parliamentary Speaker Leads Walkout Of Lawmakers
KABUL, November 27, 2007 -- The speaker of the lower house of Afghanistan's parliament has led a walkout of lawmakers on Monday (November 26) to protest government actions following the killing of
6 lawmakers and 71 other people in the north of the country. Muhammad Yunus Qanuni says the government has ignored parliament's demand for the suspension of officials in Baghlan Province, where a suicide
bomber attacked a delegation of lawmakers on November 6. Some 61 school children were among those killed by the explosion or allegedly shot dead by bodyguards after the blast.
