Interior Minister Says Only 3 Treated For Gunshot Wounds In Afghanistan Bombing
KABUL, November 27, 2007 -- Afghanistan's Interior Minister Zarar Ahmad Muqbal said today only three people were treated for gunshot wounds following Afghanistan's deadliest suicide attack.
At least 71 people, including at least 61 schoolchildren and six parliamentarians were killed in the November 6 suicide bombing in the northern Baghlan province. Some families have demanded that victims' bodies be disinterred for autopsy amid allegations many were killed when parliamentarians' bodyguards opened fire after the bombing. An internal UN report obtained by the Associated Press new agency last week suggested that bodyguards fired wildly into a crowd after the suicide bombing, "causing multiple deaths and injuries."
