Heavy Fighting Continues In Afghanistan's Farah Province
November 1, 2007 -- Afghan police say 50 more Taliban militants were killed during heavy clashes in Afghanistan's western Farah Province. Provincial police spokesman Mohammad Gul Sarjang said an operation by local and NATO troops to retake a district in Farah has entered its third day. Up to 40 militants were reported killed in earlier fighting.
Meanwhile, a spokesman for the U.S.-led coalition said U.S. and Afghan troops clashed with suspected militants in Nangarhar Province late Wednesday (Oct. 31). The raid sparked a gunbattle that left three people dead, including two children.
