Gunmen Kill 7 Deminers In Afghanistan
KABUL, March 24, 2008 -- Gunmen have shot dead seven Afghan staff of UN-funded mine clearing teams in northern Afghanistan in some of the deadliest attacks on non-government workers in months.

In Jawzjan province on Sunday, gunmen attacked a convoy
of deminers from the Afghan Technical Consultants (ATC) team, killing five and wounding seven. Two more employees of a separate mine clearing team, the Mine Detection and Dog Centre (MDC) were shot dead in an attack in Kunduz province today. No one has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
