...As Two Killed In Rally Featuring His First Running Mate
Two people were killed on the last day of Afghan election campaigning on 6 October in an apparent bomb blast in Fayzabad, provincial capital of the northwestern Badakhshan Province, AFP reported. The campaign rally featured Karzai's first running mate, Ahmad Zia Mas'ud (see "RFE/RL Afghanistan Report," 26 August 2004), who was not harmed in the incident. No one has taken responsibility for the attack. (Amin Tarzi)
